Inmotion Hybrid System

GSM motor‑generator paired with the ACS controller for practical hybrid performance
GSM Hybrid 600x600

HYBRID Made Easy

The GSM hybrid system delivers electric assist and power generation in a simple, practical package. Built around a permanent magnet motor‑generator and the Inmotion ACS controller, the system installs directly into the drivetrain and works with existing machine architectures.

When paired with a 74 hp diesel engine, the system provides strong hybrid performance across the working speed range. Electric assist increases available output to over 130 hp during peak demand while delivering up to 400 Nm of combined torque through much of the operating RPM band. This added torque supports acceleration, load changes, and high transient events without increasing engine size.

The Inmotion ACS controller manages all operating states and is supported by customizable Inmotion software. Control strategies, torque response, power limits, and operating modes can be adjusted to match the machine and duty cycle.

Smaller Engines More Power
Smaller Engines More Power
Many machines are upsized to handle short peak load events, pushing engine power above regulatory thresholds that require SCR systems and diesel exhaust fluid under EPA Stage 4 and EU Tier V.

By adding electric assist, the GSM hybrid system allows OEMs to achieve required working performance using a smaller diesel engine, such as a 74 hp platform.

This approach can avoid SCR hardware, DEF tanks, and related service requirements, while still delivering strong torque and transient response during demanding work cycles.

Designed to fit OEM systems
Designed to fit OEM systems
The GSM hybrid system is designed to fit into existing machine architectures with minimal disruption.

The motor‑generator, ACS controller, and software support a range of drivetrain layouts and charging arrangements, giving OEMs flexibility in how hybrid capability is applied across different machines.

It features a low‑profile design that can be mated directly to an SAE #5 bell housing, which simplifies packaging within existing engine bays and reduces the need for structural changes.

Low-Voltage Simplicity
Low-Voltage Simplicity
The GSM hybrid system can operate at 48 V or 96 V, allowing OEMs to add hybrid functionality without moving into high‑voltage architectures.

Staying at low voltage reduces safety requirements, simplifies wiring and diagnostics, and avoids the training, tooling, and service constraints often associated with high‑voltage systems.

Maintenance teams can work with familiar components and procedures, helping control service costs and minimize downtime over the life of the machine.

System Architecture Example

This diagram shows a hybrid system applied to construction equipment, with the GSM motor‑generator integrated into the powertrain to support engine operation and hydraulic demand. The motor‑generator can work independently or in combination with the diesel engine, while the battery and ACS controller manage electric assist, energy recovery, and overall system control. This flexible architecture allows OEMs to configure the system to match machine layout, duty cycle, and application requirements.

Hybrid System Performance VS 100HP Diesel

Using a 74 hp diesel paired with the GSM 309 motor‑generator at 48 V, the Inmotion hybrid system delivers working performance comparable to a general 100 hp diesel. Electric assist fills in during high‑demand events, enabling similar torque and peak power while operating with a smaller engine, which can eliminate the need for SCR and DPF systems associated with EPA Stage 4 and EU Tier V.
